Who know that could ever be a legitimate blog post title… anyways…
WINDSOR—Some Grade 12 students in Windsor have been suspended for a day after spelling out support for their hockey team on tops made of blue duct tape.
The eight girls from St. Joseph’s Catholic High School spelled out “Go Lasers” at the annual game between their school and F.J. Brennan High School for the Father Zakoor Cup.
The game was Dec. 17, the last day of school before the holiday break, so the suspensions were served Tuesday.
While it has been a long-standing tradition, the girls were warned they would face suspensions if they wore the duct-tape tops with the letters.
The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board is backing the suspensions, saying that in the past some students displaying the letters have not dressed appropriately.
One of the suspended students says the girls promised not to show any skin, but the school board rejected their proposal.
“I know we were warned but we didn’t want to miss out on anything. Everyone’s always done it. We wanted to be a part of it,” the student said.
“We thought we met the school dress code. We did what we wanted to do, but followed the rules that apply to any dress down day.”
The student says the girls could be barred from their prom because of their actions.
Seriously? Some people are too sensitive. I bet it was an ugly girl’s mom who complained (wow, that’s mean!). This story is only getting so much attention because they are attractive teens. – I bet the Pope would want these girls as his cheerleader (okay, maybe not…)
